There’s something about a neutral modern apartment that has a well executed neutral color scheme that feels just right. Color scheme isn’t something that only takes into consideration paint colors and fabrics, in order to be well executed it has to incorporate the right choice of materials and textures so that it keeps its neutral aesthetic. Neutral doesn’t mean boring by adding small pops of color and certain special details that aren’t expected you keep that unique vibe that every house needs.
The project featured today was designed by Anton Sukharev, a design studio founded in 2005 in Russia. The final result of the design achieves an eye catching neutrality thanks to the colorful elements and the mix of materials used throughout. The apartment has an open main living area, that feel independent because they were divided visually with elements that create the feeling of different rooms without enclosing them.
The materials used in the kitchen are earth toned, so this keeps the space from feeling cold. They used three different cabinet finishes to add interest to the space and the kitchen island serves as a division between the kitchen and dining area.
The TV wall serves as a divider between the dining room and living room area. The living room area is the perfect example of good use of colorful elements and how you can incorporate different materials and textures: the yellow chair, the throw pillows in the couch, and the lamp break the monotony that the space could’ve had.
The bedroom has a masculine feeling to it achieved by the color and material selection and the sleek design of its elements. The wall designed as the headboard and the small niche created for a desk are my favorite elements of this room.
